New GATE examination pattern in GATE 2016

GATE 2016

Today out county, India has got more than 3000 engineering college (3,393 engineering colleges with 14.84 total seats). Now just imagine the situation what will be the output during each year from each college and
the competition every student faces each year to get job and to take admission in the master degree course. The only possible way to come out from this competition is to emerge as one of the top scorer in competitive examination like GATE. The ultimate aim for GATE examination is to highlight the better students who are suitable for master education like M. E and M. Tech in IITs and NITs. But today scenario is different. Read why it is.

Due to high level reputation of GATE, Since last 3-4 years, most of the PSU (Public Sector Units) companies also prefer candidate with suitable/competitive GATE score in particular field. Here is the list of few PSUs which ask for GATE score for job interview. (In early years PSUs used to take their own written tests)
  • Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)
  • Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)
  • NTPC Limited ( National Thermal Power Corporation)
  • Power Grid, the central transmission utility (PGCIL)
  • Gas Authorityof India Limited (GAIL)
  • Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL)
  • Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd (HECL)
Each year, most of the final year students enroll the GATE examination and try to get GATE good score to get job in PSUs and to make the resume heavier by GATE score. Since last three years, the total number of GATE candidates are increasing each year due to PSUs effect. In 2011, it was around 5 lacks, in 2012 the number was around 7 lacks and in this year it is above 12.5 lacks. You can imagine the load that IIT (Organizing Institute) has to handle for each exam.

So, to get rid of the high number of candidates appearing for GATE every year,  the experts from IITs (Organizing institute of GATE) wants the next GATE's examination patter to be entirely changed from the current one. The probable changes in the next GATE exam is inclusion ofprelims and mains exam. The committee for this change is already been setup which consists of nine members from IITs and IISc. In the prelim exam, only objective of the exam is to reduce the number of GATE candidates to few by high cut-off. So, at the end of prelim results, main exam will get less students for evaluation. Thus the sole purpose of GATE will be served by this new examination pattern.  The exam is likely to held for more than one days and will have complete new makeover with new structure. Committee has started work in this direction.

You need to start thinking seriously if you are going to appear for GATE 2014 because this will be the tough test. One need to have serious preparation for GATE. Find GATE tips from your seniors and teachers who already experienced this exam.
